Amount Awarded: $552,564 | Project Status: Projected Completion June 2024

Thanks to Will County American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, Easterseals Joliet Region has established a Community Day Center to serve young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. The Board of Directors had purchased a facility which has since been remodeled to meet the environment needed for this Vocational Program. They state that they “look forward to welcoming our program participants in the month of May and appreciate the support of this project.”

The intended impact of Easterseals Community Day Services program is to provide a daily pre-vocational program for young adults graduating special education and for those who reside with family that are seeking access to meaningful vocational experiences, activities to enhance personal development, and opportunities for socialization. At any given time, there will be 20 individuals being served to include in-center curriculum and community outings. Participants will acquire personal skills to enhance independence.

“ARPA funding has provided the critical resources for Easterseals Joliet Region to establish a Community Day Center to address a critical need of access for young adults with disabilities. We are excited to do our part in addressing the needs of those who seek to fully develop their independence and fully participate in our community.”
