Village of Manhattan
Improving Public Infrastructure
Village of Manhattan
Amount Awarded: $500,000 | Projected Completion Early 2025
Will County’s allocation of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars is funding large-scale infrastructure improvements and public safety initiatives throughout the county. Of the $134 million of federal funds that were allocated for transformational projects in our communities, $500,000 was allocated to the Village of Manhattan and Manhattan Fire Protection District to support their long-term goal of creating a unified public safety complex.
County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant joined local officials at a groundbreaking ceremony on October 10, 2024 to celebrate the ARPA-funded water and sewer infrastructure project that will support this facility. She joined Village of Manhattan Mayor Mike Adrieansen, State Rep. Anthony DeLuca, State Sen. Patrick Joyce, and leaders from both the village and fire protection district.
This project marks a pivotal step in enhancing essential services for the Manhattan area. The installation of new water and sewer lines will not only support the operations of the Manhattan Fire Protection District, but also lay the groundwork for the forthcoming Public Works Facility. This will help ensure that public services can efficiently meet the needs of our growing population.
Construction will begin immediately with scheduled completion in early 2025.

“We are thrilled to begin this much needed infrastructure project, which represents our commitment to working together with our taxing partners to save residents money. Thanks to the support from Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant and the Will County Board for providing ARPA funds. We can enhance our community’s infrastructure and improve public safety while also promoting economic development in our area.”
